Perception is the miscellaneous skill to spot secrets and avoid damage from traps. Elves begin the game with basic knowledge of this skill, and Genies, as well as Ogre and Vampire Students, may do so as well. But all player characters can pick up the skill early on.
Description
The Perception skill gives a character a chance to notice hidden doors, traps and other secrets and to avoid damage from traps when they are triggered. At expert and master levels the character will notice more. Grandmasters see all such secrets.
Technical notes
- Every object has a detection value, ranging from 0 (default: always spotted) to 50, which must be met to detect it.
- The reduction of damage from triggered traps is equal to 1% (experts 2%, masters 3%) times skill level and maxed out at 50%.
Acquisition
The Perception skill can be acquired at the following guilds:
Expertise
Mastery of the skill influences its effectiveness. The various effects are cumulative.
