Mace is the combat skill to wield a Mace, a melee weapon. Ogre, Troll and Vampire Explorers may begin the game with basic knowledge of this skill. Other might-oriented characters can pick it up quickly, but the only magic-oriented player characters that can learn the skill are the self-magic specialists.
Mace covers all kinds of blunt trauma weapons ranging from large clubs to flails. Expert mace swingers do extra damage with their weapons. Master and grandmaster rankings give a chance to stun or paralyze opponents respectively.
- Grandmasters can both stun and paralyze.
- The use of simple clubs does not require this skill.

Mastery of the skill influences its effectiveness. The various effects are cumulative.
