Armour is a type of item that can be equipped by a player character. Non-player characters and monsters may carry armour as well; some of these may become available to the party. Armour is used to reduce damage dealt by an opponent in combat. There are numerous types of armour, and many combinations are possible.
The shield is the only type of armour that interferes directly with the player character's ability to wield weapons, as it is carried in the left hand. Wearing trunk armour may slow a character down and prevent dodging and unarmed combat, as does a shield.
Armour improves a character's Armour Class. The effectiveness of armour can be increased with enchantments.
Trunk armour and shields can only be bought in an Armour Shop. Other kinds of armour can also be for sale in a Magic Shop or a General Store. Armour is furthermore found as treasure and can frequently be looted from dead enemies.
