Plate Armour is the most solid type of armour for the torso, made of large metal plates. It is used to prevent damage from being inflicted to a character. Plate armour offers better protection than the lighter leather armour and chain mail, but the weight slows the wearer down considerably, until they become a grandmaster in its use.

Plate armour is the trunk armour of choice of the Knight.

To wear plate armour, a player character has to learn and develop the Plate skill. Basic knowledge of this skill is not available at the start, but must be acquired much later.

Selection, specifications and flavour texts by Fander Treespook.

plate armour level value armour class flavour text size
Simple Plate 1 1000 20 These are the breast and back plates from a suit of plate armour. Plate armour is so heavy and uncomfortable to wear, that it takes a lot of practice merely to move about in it. Knights are the only class of warrior able to use it effectively in combat. 3x3
Brigandine 8 1400 28 The greatest problem with plate armour is that it slows the wearer down. With the brigandine, the smith has tried to make the armour more flexible by riveting hundreds of small metal plates in an overlapping pattern. Greater mobility is gained at he cost of protection. 3x3
Erathian Plate Armour 16 2500 40 Originally constructed as reinforcements for mail armour, sheet iron and steel developed into full suits of armour. As techniques developed, stronger metals could be employed. This suit is made principally from kergar by one of the many skilled armoursmiths of Erathia. 3x6
Supreme Plate Armour 24 3400 56 With a breastplate of stalt from Ryft, chausses of siertal mail from Alvar and a fauld of thick mogred hide, this plate armour is strong and light and as flexible as any plate armour can be. It is simply the best armour around. 3x6
Sekhmet
artifact
20 35000 70 This plate armour was made during the first century after the Silence, in preparations for expected and much feared riots following the disaster. Though the contact with the Ancients had been broken, there were many people around at the time that had much knowledge from them and one or more such person probably took part in the making of this artifact (+50 Armour Class, +7 Armsmaster skill, Swift, +30 Might). 3x3
Enkidu
relic
30 35000 80 The ultimate armour for any employed soldier provided he or she doesn't wear it on payday, Enkidu's enchantments focus on melee abilities. The more important perceptive skills of the adventurer, however, are greatly sacrificed. Still the formidable protection offered may well be worth the sacrifice (+60 Armour Class, +5 Sword, Dagger, Axe, Spear, Staff and Mace skills, -20% to all gold found, -10 ID Item, -10 ID Monster, -10 Perception). 3x3
