Dragonheart: "Ah, the Qallupilluit. Nasty creatures they are. Hiding under the ice and stealing the children when they can. Last month the villagers rescued little Allashua in the nick of time.
Say, ain't that a nice spear for your Ranger-fellow? Best Elfwood for only a 350 gold."

Vilx Trying to see how well is balanced strange design dagger from offered here
I'll take this one. Jermy, please, pay expenses.

Whispering in Arturchix's ear
Can you remember that old good spell we all used so many times earlier? Something called "enchanting"?
Arturchix: Ah, this... just a moment... ready.
Vilx: looking at dagger
Now it seems..

And so it was that after a little while, four well-equipped heroes stood laughing, leaving Ochi just as happy with a lot of his old items nicely enchanted.

There is Arturchix, wearing a fine Elven Cloak of the Gods. Jermy has a Silver Blade of Titan Slaying and Studded Leather of the Gremlins (+20 Speed). Regran lucked out with an Elfwood Bow of the Eye (+10 Accuracy) and an equally fine Elfwood Spear of the Giants (+10 HP, +30 Might).
Vilx is pretty content with one Vampiric Silver Dagger and one Silver Dagger of Ice.
The rest of your attire is unenchanted leathers and crudes, as Arturchix did not want to use up all his spellpoints, but finally you feel dressed again!

On top of it all, you still have 300 gold left and you are in the possession of four intriguing scrolls. This is how they read:

Blind: Causes target creature to lose sight for 10 minutes
Tag: Reveals the location of target creature during 3 days (local map only)
Fog: Creates a magical mist at caster's location for 15 minutes, providing a chance to pass or act unnoticed
Dark Lantern: Shows secret passages and treasure for 2 hours

Going for a walk

Larhana. A sightseeing trip by the supergubbers reveald many places. They sipped the fountains, they talked to people. What have our heroes discovered?

Vilx: We need a job.

Regran: What about rescuing the giantess?

Jermy: Could you please stop! We shall handle that at the right time.

Arturchix: I feel somewhat naked. Could you please by me some boots and a cloak?

Jermy: Are you not the Shaolin Master? Do you need anything at all? Just kidding my friend. Soon we all will know what this land has to offer!

Nicolai: "Finally, we are on the move again. Arturchix, your one Elven Cloak should keep you warm, and we did get you leather boots just like the others!"

It is a busy morning. Our heroes knock on every door for the last bit of information, and in one of the lodges they find Tarsellis, the father of Allashua. He wrote the note about the Qallupilluit. He seems to be a 'Master Pathfinder', whatever that could be, willing to promote anyone who has mastered that skill for 4000 gold.

Regran: "Could you tell us something more about those monsters?"
Tarsellis: "They are truly one of nature's biggest mistakes. Or someone's experiment gone wrong. Almost humanoid but mostly water-breathing, they hang around at our best fishing spot, always hiding under ice floes and waiting for their chance.
Evil is all they now. We killed a lot of them, with well-aimed arrows from the shore, but they keep coming back."

Drinking from the fountain at the Inn was a good idea. When you check your statistics, you notice that all your resistances went up
one point, permanently! The pond, upon entering, 'refreshes' you. Many of such waters have healing powers, but since you are in good health you have no clue.

After lunch, it's decision time ....

"OK, Prince Nicolai, let's see what those "Seers of Serenity" have to say about your kingdom and strange Vori magic", Arturchix said.
"Let's move friends", Regran accepted.
Jermy and Vilx quitly followed them climbing up the mountain at east from village.

Vori, east of Larhana

The climb is quite steep, as the adventurers are rounding the lower part of a large mountain. But when they come to the end of the trail, they are well rewarded for their effort. All during te climb there were trees ans bushes in the way, but now they discover a large blue lake to the SE, far below them, with flat land at the other side. The mountain is blocking the view north and east.

Against the mountainside, there is a hut!
The door has a small window above it. On the door, there is a sign that reads: "Klaravoyia, Seer. Lost items, hints and Barbarian lore."
To the right of the hut, you notice a pedestal that is supporting a flame.

When you knock on the door, the window opens and a face appears, frowning at you. Male or female is hard to tell. The Seer eyes Nicolai and seems displeased, uneasy even.

You have just met the first Advisor. Is the Seer going to let you in and answer your questions? We'll see ....

The Seer meets the Supergubbers!

Vilx stood to the sides, quietly looking for any signs of danger. Jermy and Arturchix held their heads high, measuring the worthiness of the being known as "The Seer". Regran the Outspoken, adressed the seer thus...

Regran: Hail, Seer. We are the Supergubbers, Heros from Chedian, those who imprisoned the god Njam, the seekers of the true Writ of Fate! We have come for your wisdom to guide us in this strange land. We have many questions. First, do you know anything about our Writ of Fate?

Jermy: Who are those Barbarians? What do they want with all-mighty Krohn? And what about this "God-War"? They also mentioned Yanmir...

Arturchix: What is our role in all this? And those devils? Who are they?

Vilx: After hearing all questions, the assassin remembers something that the townspeople muttered to him as a question to The Seer Seer, We lost it.

Ahhh a party of ragtags

and why do you think I would be of any use or assistance to a group who would come to my door and have no introduction note or even say who has sent them?
I have much knowledge and yes I know of your Writ and I have answers to all your questions but I refuse to talk through this closed door. Something or someone in your group is disturbing my enter balance.

Guess who...

Looking at each other, the heroes got the same answer: it must be Nicolai Ironfist.

Vilx: Nicolai, its almost certain that you are the one who detains us form getting answers. Stand by and wait here.

Regran: Yeah Prince, we are the world savers, soooo it shall be us to enter this shack.

Regran: Lady or lord, er... Wise one, sorry about our rude interruption of your meditation. We are foreigners and not so familiar with local habits, so you may be can accept our apologises. We appeared in this world just yesterday at morning, naked and losed. We don't know who did it with us neither why.
When seeking some advice, everyone suggested to ask YOU and that is why we are here. Can you tell to us something, at least give some hints - what to do. This Prince with us seems to be in trouble too and, as he explained, arrived into this land for knowledge too.

Vilx: thinking about fastest way to Arslegard - We don't want your help for free. Is there something we can do for you? We payed high price before - even our lives - and can do it again.

Arturchix: raising his ice-blue eyes to Prince Nicolai - Is there something you did not tell us yet, Majesty?

Hmmm Ok I know that you are new to this land and can forgive the rudness this ONE time but because I can not tell what is disturbing my enter balance at this time I will allow one from your group to enter and maybe answer your questions.
Vilx: there may be something that you can do foor me at a later time, we will see
the Seer of Vori opens the door and walks to the rear of the hut to sit by the fire
I will only see one as i said decide who will enter and pose your questions well.

Enter... The shack!

After some debate, Regran went in.

Regran: As a group of "Ragtags" we are sorry for our past manners. Wise Seer, could you please answer our questions, now? We want to know about the Barbarians, their relationship with Krohn, and the Godswar they are tlaking about. Prince Nicolai and the Devils are another topic, this Prince was a completely different person in our land, now his says that we are to save his world? Last, but not least, the most important question of all: what about our Writ of Fate!? I hope you can help us, thank you. Ah... <looks embaressed> the peasants said that we are to say to you this one more thing: We lost it.

Answers you seek Answers I have

klaravoyia: You have made a wise choice comming here to seek advice. Seeking help from the wise and the Gods is the only way you can fufill your destiny. Your lives and that of Nicolai will be forever linked, for that is in your destiny. It is your fate to save his world as that is your Writ.

The Barbarians live in the far north of Vori. Even the Snowelves rarely go there because of the harsh climate. They know the following gods:
Yanmir, the grandfather of all life, but surpassed in power. He has withdrawn from worldly affairs. But his two sons, also Frost Giants (his beloved daughter Atali is human), fought against the Minotaurs.

Krohn, the head God. He is missing. I am able to feel the presence of all Barbarian gods and Krohn is not here. All of them are away from time to time, but Krohn has been gone for several years now. Where He has gone I do not know.

Ceth, aka the Arch Devil. The Barbarians fear him. With Krohn out of the way, who knows what he will do, with the help of his favourite fury, Baa. This may well be the Godswar you talk of. All is not clear at the present time.

Among the Barbarians there is a High Sorcerer named Slayn who leads the evil cult of Ceth worshippers.

Njam was imprisoned in ice by Krohn with your help a long time ago for open rebellion. He is almost forgotten.

Ishtar, goddess of Chaos. Her presence has grown since the arrival of the outerworlders.

The Barbarians have asked you to do something for them BE ADVISED DO NOT DO THIS THING

I noticed that the Druid in your group set a beacon to be able to return here when needed, but be advised that the beacon will not work as long as the flame on the pedestal outside is burning, therefore I have a gift for you. Take this mirror and you will be able to use it to contact me when needed, but at first it will only work once a day so use it wisely.

Tell Vilx to be on the lookout for 'Dagger of many magics' this weapon can only be used by a true assassin and if his or her blade and armsmaster skills are high enough it will strike with attack of +8 damage 2d3 +8 with a special of 10-20 points of whatever magic your enemy is least resistant to, plus 25 might.

And as for your question 'We lost it'.... You never had it.

While our adventureres are having an afternoon snack just outside the Seer's hut, they are going through their questbook.

Regran: "Yanmir wants his daughter to come home."
Arturchix: "That Miss Kija asks two Dragon Eggs for her, but now the Seer says not to give in! I think we should find, er, another way."
Jermy: "Yes! Hit them on the head!"
Nicolai: "But you are here to save the World! We need to find Lord Markham sometime soon, and speak with the Elven king, and, and ...."
Vilx: "I wonder where that Dagger of Many Magics can be found. How many magics are there, anyway? It seems they have at least one more on this world than in Chedian."
Regran: "I don't think we need that to kill us some Qallupilluit. Give me a good bounty hunt and I'm happy!"
Arturchix: "Ah, Chedian. Will we ever return?"
Jermy: "Are there really Minotaurs in this world?"
Vilx: "I wish that Deedlit had come with us ..."

Meanwhile, a cool breeze rises from the southeast. Regran, with his Ranger's ears, catches faint sounds coming from the lake, almost like - chanting.

Vori, on the road

As the party was not willing to risk a tumble from the mountain, the journey took them back to Larhana, where Arturchix set beacon #2. The innkeeper, Penno, is willing to give them directions, but only smiles if they ask him about the chanting.
And so it was that after a bowl of soup our adventurers set foot on the road south from the settlement, waving goodbye to Dragonheart and the kind Snowelves.

Soon after leaving the village, the road bends to the southeast, while slowly going downhill. Different sounds now reach their ears.

Two times Regran swears he hears footsteps. Small and many, he says. But a steady roar is forming, too, and it's getting louder, although still distant, when suddenly the road is no longer flanked by treelines.

The party halts. To the left begins the shore of the lake, the crystal blue water still several feet below them, with the Seer's mountain at the opposite end. Ahead, from the direction of the rumbling noise, is what clearly must be a landbridge leading east, which they are about to enter. A small trail goes south, apparently following the coastline further on, but they pay no attention. Instead, with no clearly marked road to walk on, they move along the lake's shoreline at the north side of the landbridge, going east.

It is then that they notice the lake is populated.

Mergryph by Uta 'Freawyn' Hesse

Strange creatures, male and female, that scan as Merfolk of several types, are swimming in the lake, some resting on rocks. They don't seem to notice the adventurers at all, even though sometimes one comes close to where they stand.

A cry alerts the party, and turning their heads towards it they see that one of the creatures is taken by a strong current, fighting helplessly. The current takes it towards the shore and next ... it disappears under the landbridge! Vilx starts running to the south end, and soon the others follow. Could it be, that ...?

When they reach the other end, with the ocean far below, the noise is so loud that they can't hear anything else. They look down, and see a huge waterfall appearing from under the landbridge, obviously carrying water from the lake. They look to find the creature, but there is no sight of it.

Saddened by the event, the adventurers sit down, trying to gather their thoughts while the night is almost upon them.

Vori, the landbridge

In the deep of the night, Nicolai awakens with a start. But when he looks around him, he can see that his new friends are still there, huddled together around the fire, sleeping, but not quite succeeding in shutting out the cold. They are a brave group, trying to cope with a world that is not their own. Will they, in the end, do what is needed?

His eyes rest on Jermy, the Paladin. Briefly, a grey mist seems to hang over the lad's head. There is a disquieting thought in the young prince's mind, but he can't catch it, and then it dissipates.

The face of DaveO, the Paladin, is already familiar after only two days.

The lake's shore

Strangeness. That was the first though about DaveO, the new hero and said supergubber also. Appearing out of thin air, the mysterious Paladin seemed like a god sent replacement for Jermy. In the meanwhile, they headed to the lake's shore, searching for clues.

Vori, the lake

In the morning, our adventureres are resolved to find out more about the strange creatures in the lake and their chanting. With the waterfall so close by, they cannot hear it, so they start walking along the lake's shore.

After a short while, the landbridge widens, and a new road begins, heading only slightly away from the lake. They decide to follow it for just a little while, to see where it leads. Just when the lake's shoreline bends to the north-east, they come to a crossing.

To their pleasant surprise, a sign at the side of the road gives directions!

"The south, the road to Volee, to mouth."
"The west, the way to Larhana for rest."
"The east, the path to Seelie and beast."

But it is none of these they want to follow for now. Instead, they step on the plains and move north-east, back to the lake. The sound of the waterfall is fainting, then no more. Another sound, lovelier, one they heard before from high up, reaches their ears.
When they come to the lake again and push aside some growth, they see a few of the merfolk on a small island. It is they who do the chanting, but they cannot understand the words.

Then, a young mermaid's voice can be heard over all others, and her song they can understand all too well.

Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has ev'rything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Lookin' around here you'd think
(Sure) she's got everything

I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
(You want thingamabobs?
I got twenty)
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more

I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see
Wanna see 'em dancin'
Walkin' around on those
(Whad'ya call 'em?) oh - feet
Flippin' your fins you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumpin', dancin'
Strollin' along down a
(What's that word again?) street

Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free
Wish I could be
Part of that world

What would I give
If I could live
Outta these waters?
What would I pay
To spend a day
Warm on the sand?
Betcha on land
They understand
Bet they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women
Sick o' swimmin'
Ready to stand

And ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions
And get some answers
What's a fire and why does it
(What's the word?) burn?

When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love
Love to explore that shore above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world
