Casting a spell is the main use of magic in the world of Might and Magic. A magic user needs to learn each spell from a spellbook once, and will then forever remember it. To be able to learn a spell, a player character must have the required mastery in that magic skill. Each school of magic has a range of spells available, in addition to the generic spells that come available with the knowledge of Spellcasting.

Note: there is no generic grandmaster spell in Might and Magic Tribute. When the game plays, the magic system has begun to slowly evolve into a new system where basic magic is abandoned. The events in the game will accelerate this change, which will also lead to the demise of grey magic, and to a simplification of character development.
