Ranger is one of the twelve final classes that can be selected for a player character upon their second promotion. Only Warriors can advance to this might-oriented class.
Description
Rangers are warriors with more balance rather than pure power. As grandmasters in the bow skill, they can do more ranged damage than any other fighter. In melee, they will finish the job with a migthy axe, well protected by their chainmail. With their high perception, there is nothing that a ranger cannot find or track down. Occasionally, rangers will support their actions with their acquired magic skills in the realms of earth, spirit and light.
Skills
Rangers can learn many skills, particularly combat skills, but not all. In their field of excellence, they are the only class that can reach full potential.
- Grandmaster: Axe, Bow, Chain, Perception
- Master: Sword, Spear, Shield, Bodybuilding, Identify Monster, Armsmaster, Pathfinding
- Expert: Spellcasting, Earth Magic, Spirit Magic, Light Magic, Dagger, Staff, Mace, Leather, Dodging, Disarm Trap, Meditation, Repair, Stealing
- Normal: Unarmed Combat, Merchant, Identify Item, Alchemy
Hit- and spellpoints
The class of Ranger gives the character:
- hitpoints = 0 + 5 * level
- spellpoints = 0 + 2 * level
Race provides hit- and spellpoints as well.
Reputation
Rangers are liked by Centaurs, giving the party a reputation bonus if they have one in their midst (+5), and disliked in Soronne (-5).
Promotion
Marshall Oren Dove (S'Fauni) handles the promotion to Ranger. Candidates must defeat the Two Giants at the Hunebed.
