Player character
A player character, often shortened to character, is a character that is controlled by the player, this in contrast to a non-player character or NPC that is controlled by the game.
Number of player characters
In Might and Magic Tribute, the player can choose any number from 1 through 5 player characters at the start of the game. Together, the player characters form the party. Player characters cannot be added or removed once the game has begun.
Presentation
Of each player character, a portrait is shown by the graphical user interface. The player can use te mouse or the keyboard to command their individual characters or to open screens where they can check character data or perform certain actions such as assigning skillpoints to skills or changing equipment. Player characters, nor their shadows or their hands or weapons are shown in the world view.
Character data
Each player character has a vast number of characteristics and current data, including:
- name
- gender
- date of birth
- race and title
- class
- skills, skill levels, skill mastery and skillpoints
- attributes
- spell tome
- conditions and active spells
- inventory and equipment
- hitpoints and spellpoints
- level and experience
Character creation
Player characters are created outside the game. The player names them, chooses their gender, gives them a voice, portrait, race, and starting class. Race and class determine their base statistics that can be adjusted somewhat, as well as which starting skills are fixed and which can be added.
Characters can be saved, changed and deleted. A number of sample characters come with the game. Before the game starts, the player decides which characters to include in the party. Depending on the chosen difficulty level, each character then receives some items and free skillpoints.
