Merchant is the miscellaneous skill to get favourable prices in shops and at some other trade venues. Humans begin the game with basic knowledge of this skill, and Ogres, as well as Vampire and Elf Students, may do so as well. But all player characters can pick up the skill early on.
Description
The Merchant skill helps adjust prices in a character's favour, whether buying or selling. Expert, master and grandmaster rank doubles, triples and quintuples the effect of the skill respectively. Prices are, however, also affected by reputation.
Technical notes
- All shops have base sell and buy ratios determining their profits before merchant skill and reputation take effect.
- The best merchant among the conscious party members makes the trade.
Acquisition
The Merchant skill can be acquired at the following guilds:
Expertise
Mastery of the skill influences its effectiveness. The various effects are cumulative.
