Identify Item is the miscellaneous skill to identify unknown items. Genies begin the game with basic knowledge of this skill, and Elves, as well as Ogre and Troll Students, may do so as well. But all player characters can pick up the skill early on.

Description

The Identify Item skill is checked automatically when an unidentified item is examined. If the skill rank of the character is high enough for the item in question it is identified. Grandmasters always succeed.

Technical notes

  • Every item has an identification value, ranging from 0 (default: always identified) to 50, which must be met to identify it.
  • The best item identifier among the conscious party members makes the attempt.
