The amount of hitpoints indicates the health of a rested and whole player character. In the beginning of the game, this is a small number, and the party should avoid confrontations with monsters that are out of their league. As the game continues, characters will grow a lot tougher, eventually allowing them to face any danger.
Sources of hitpoints
The number of hitpoints depends on the character's race and title, class, and bodybuilding skill, all increasing with the character's level, and their endurance. Finally, some item enchantments can directly affect hitpoints.
Races and classes that get more hitpoints will accumulate less spellpoints, and vice versa.
